About

Hi, my name is Kayla Hart and I am a Mathematics Tutor. I graduated university in 2020 with a Bachelor of Creative Industries, studying a double major in 3D Design and Creative Writing. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Mathematics / Bachelor of Science at UQ.

Experience

Mathematics 2IC
NumberWorks’nWords, 5 years
In my role as 2IC, I tutored students from Kindy/Prep to Year 10 in Mathematics and English. I have experience catering tutoring sessions to the individual student, whether that be catch up or extension. I was also responsible for planning lessons, which involved identifying underlying gaps in the students knowledge and planning corresponding topics to enable the student to catch up, or relevant extension topics for accelerated students. For High School students, this also involved planning topics related to their current school outline, and interweaving catch up or extension topics with this. Additionally, I was responsible for overseeing the training of new tutors, contacting parents to provide them with an update of their child’s progress, and checking over all student record sheets to ensure the correct planning and topics were being followed.

Study Leader
University of the Sunshine Coast, 2 years
This role involved assisting Academic Skills Advisors at drop-in sessions, workshops, and support sessions. I was also responsible for sharing program knowledge and experience, facilitating peer learning, and promoting an environment that was inclusive, inspiring, safe and respectful.

Mentor
Search for the Next Tech Girl Superhero, 1 year
In this role, I mentored a group of students throughout the creation of their own app to address an issue in the community. This role involved providing support and feedback on their ideas, problem solving, troubleshooting within the coding app, and helping to guide them to a successful outcome.

Tutoring Marker
Kumon Tutoring, 2 years
This role involved marking students work, as well as recording results from homework and classwork.

Peer Tutor
High School, 3 years
I was a volunteer peer tutor at my High School, where I tutored peers in Mathematics (Year 8-12), Biology (Year 11-12) and Chemistry (Year 10). I also volunteered in the schools tutoring program, which partnered up senior students with junior students once a week to provide extra support with the mathematics topics taught.
