Maths Group Tutoring

‘Maths is Fun’ Group Tutoring and Exam Prep Workshops will focus on building core maths skills aligned with the Australian Curriculum. Topics from the current year level will be presented in an engaging and fun manner with a focus on understanding ‘how’ and ‘why’ the maths works. Multiple strategies for solving the question will be explained, so that students have the opportunity to pick the method that works best for them. All topics can be directly applied to what the student is learning in the classroom, and students are welcome to bring tricky questions from school or university to the workshops. There is often much simpler ways of solving a question, and topics will be broken down in a straightforward manner.

Students regularly provide feedback that sessions are fun and they are enthusiastic about continuing – often they are surprised that maths sessions can be enjoyable. Exam prep strategies and essential skills needed to succeed in exams will also be discussed, as well as addressing common challenge areas for students during exams.

  • Learn Australian curriculum content
    • Content will be related to the students year level curriculum and students are welcome to request topics each week that they are learning in class.
    • Cover a conceptual foundation and really understand why the maths works (to avoid rote learning maths)
    • Upskill on topics that students have gaps in or have struggled with in the classroom.
    • Bring a sense of fun into learning maths – every session will be engaging and interactive.
  • Practice problem solving
    • Worded questions
    • How to approach a challenging problem
    • Methods to break down and understand the question
